Alexsa Ortiz-Reyes

Alexsa Ortiz Reyes is a fifth-year architecture student within the Bachelor's of Architecture Degree. As a minority student minoring in sustainability, she considers resilient, ecological, and cultural consciousness as central influences guiding her approach to becoming a future architect. Ortiz, a bilingual Afro Latina, currently living in the Bronx, New York, a predominantly minority region, has worked alongside community groups, such as the North West Bronx Community Volunteer Coalition, providing research for potential resilience hub typologies. She is also a member of the research accelerator group with the Pratt Decarbonization Group, focusing on healthy and sustainable materials as well as equitable economic development, and is currently participating in a biobased material studio that supports organizations like Mothers on the Move by developing a material-based education room for the community.
