Pratt Center for Community Development

Planning, Building, & Educating for Change.

Policy Research & Advocacy

Rooted in on-the-ground experience, the Pratt Center's policy analysis and advocacy serves both to support and extend the impact of our technical assistance and training efforts. This work is based on the belief that the challenges faced by low- and moderate-income communities can be most effectively addressed only when they become part of a broader public policy agenda. The Pratt Center works to strengthen the capacity of local organizations to advocate for local and national policies that will empower them to affect change on issues of concern to their communities.

The Pratt Center's research is geared toward assessing and helping to shape policies and programs that directly affect low- and moderate-income communities. In all of these policy endeavors, the Pratt Center seeks to broaden public awareness, to encourage comprehensive and integrative planning and, fundamentally to strengthen the role of community-based non-profits as key player in the community development process.
